Kanz e Aza Terms of Use
Version: 1.0 · Effective: 14 October 2026
These terms apply when you use the Kanz e Aza app or website (the Service). Kanz e Aza is run by Mir Husain Ali Mohammed in Oman ("we", "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
1. What Kanz e Aza is
Kanz e Aza is a free, offline-first collection of nohay, marsiye, salaam, manqabat, qasida and other Azadari lyrics in Roman Urdu and Urdu. You can read without an account. Anyone aged 13 or over may submit lyrics for review under the Contribution Terms.
2. Using the Service
We give you a free, personal permission to use the app and website under these terms. You may use them for reading, reciting, studying and sharing lyrics. You must not:
- break the law or anyone's rights while using the Service;
- try to get into admin features, other people's submissions or our systems without permission, or get around any security or access limit;
- disrupt the Service, for example by flooding it with requests or submissions, or by sending harmful code;
- submit anything that breaks the Contribution Terms;
- remove or change the credit or licence notices that come with lyrics;
- present the Service, or a copy of it, as your own or as officially endorsed by us when it isn't.
3. The lyrics
- Contributed lyrics: lyrics that contributors send us under the Contribution Terms, and that we publish in the public Kanz e Aza Lyrics catalog on GitHub, are licensed under CC BY 4.0. You may copy, share and adapt them for any purpose if you credit the poet and Kanz e Aza, link to the licence and say if you changed the text.
- Other lyrics: other lyrics in the Service aren't covered by that licence. Their rights stay with their poets and rights holders, and some older lyrics are in the public domain.
- We work to make every lyric accurate, but some may contain mistakes in wording, spelling, poet or category. Please check important texts against a trusted source, and tell us about errors at ashrafamily.sub@gmail.com.
- Lyrics may be corrected, changed or removed at any time.
- Including a lyric doesn't mean that we or the poet endorse any person, group or view.
4. Sources and credit
Many lyrics in the catalog were collected from other lyric collections, apps and books, and many more were sent in by contributors. We're grateful to everyone who compiled and checked them. We name the poet wherever we know who it is.
Collections we used:
- Zikr e Karbala, the app by Mirza Hassan Ali Baig. Its written lyrics are at the heart of this catalog.
- Karbala Wale English 2021 (PDF).
- Chashm-e-Aza (PDF).
Credit doesn't mean a source endorses Kanz e Aza, and it doesn't replace the poet's or rights holder's permission. If you compiled a collection we used and want to be credited, credited differently or have lyrics removed, email us (section 8).
5. The app and its design
The Kanz e Aza name, logo and app code belong to us. Fonts, images and software made by others belong to their owners and are used under their licences; the app's open-source licences are listed under About & Credits. You may not copy, change or redistribute the app itself without our permission, except where the law allows it. The CC BY 4.0 licence covers contributed lyrics, not the app.
6. Contributing lyrics
The Contribution Terms apply when you submit a lyric or correction through the app or website. You must accept them before your first submission. If these terms and the Contribution Terms disagree about a contribution, the Contribution Terms win.
7. Feedback
If you send us ideas, suggestions or error reports, for example by email, we may use them to improve the Service without paying you. Lyrics and corrections sent through the app or website are covered by the Contribution Terms instead.
8. Copyright and removal requests
If you are a poet or rights holder and believe a lyric is in the Service without permission, or credited wrongly, email ashrafamily.sub@gmail.com with:
- the lyric's title, and where you saw it;
- who you are, how we can reach you, and what rights you hold or whom you act for;
- what you'd like us to do, for example remove it or correct the credit;
- confirmation that the information in your request is accurate.
We aim to reply within 14 days. We may ask for evidence of your rights. Where a request is valid, we remove the lyric from the catalog and stop offering it to new users as soon as we reasonably can, which may need an app update. It may stay on phones that already downloaded it, in earlier versions of the public catalog, and in copies others made under the licence.
Please don't send a request you know is false. We may reject further submissions from anyone who repeatedly sends material without permission.
9. Admin accounts
Admins are invited or approved by us. If you are an admin:
- keep your sign-in details private, don't share your account, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it;
- review submissions fairly and follow our instructions;
- use contributors' submissions and details only to review them.
We may remove admin access at any time.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information the Service handles and the choices you have.
11. Third-party services
The Service relies on services run by others, such as Google Firebase, Google sign-in and GitHub, and links to other websites, such as the public catalog on GitHub and the Creative Commons licence. Those services and websites have their own terms and privacy policies. We don't control them and aren't responsible for them.
12. Changes to the Service
We may change, pause or stop any part of the Service at any time, for example to fix a problem, add or remove lyrics or features, or follow the law.
13. No guarantees
The Service is free and provided "as is". We don't promise it will always be available, error-free, secure or suit a particular purpose.
14. Liability
As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by mistakes in lyrics, interruptions, third-party services, or calls and notifications missed while Read Mode is on. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.
15. Your responsibility
As far as the law allows, if you break these terms or the law while using the Service and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you are responsible for that claim and our reasonable costs of dealing with it.
16. Ending your use
You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the app or leaving the website. We may suspend or block anyone who breaks these terms, including by rejecting or removing their submissions or removing admin access. Sections 3, 4, 5, 8 and 13 to 19, and the permissions in the Contribution Terms, still apply after your use ends.
17. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Sultanate of Oman. If you have a complaint, please email us first so we can try to sort it out. If we can't, the courts of Oman decide the dispute. If you live in another country and its law gives you consumer rights that can't be waived, you keep those rights.
18. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we publish a new version with a new effective date. If the change is important, we'll show a notice in the app or on the website, usually with an app update, before it applies. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms.
19. General
- These terms, with the Contribution Terms and the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
- If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may hand the Service over to someone else who will run it under these terms. You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else.
